Tablet Presentation

Each film coated tablet contains:
Olmesartan Medoxomil IP 20 mg
Amlodipine Besylate IP 5 mg (Eq. to Amlodipine)
Chlorthalidone IP 6.25mg

This composition is used together to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events. they do it so by widening the blood vessels and relaxing them and helps to the lower the increased blood pressure.

Indication

  • Reduces high blood pressure
  • In angina
  • Management of oedema associated with heart failure
  • Treats oedema in nephrotic syndrome, cirrhosis

About Composition

Olmesartan Medoxomil-

It belongs to class of angiotensin receptor blocker. It mainly effects the Renin angiotensin aldosterone system.
It is used in combination with antidiabetic drugs for the management of hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Amlodipine Besylate-

It belongs to calcium channel blocker. It lowers the occurrence of myocardial infarction and conduction of heart.

Chlorthalidone-

It is thiazide diuretic.it is used in renal impairment
It reduces the swelling by preventing the absorption of water from the kidney by inhibiting the NA+/Cl symporter.
It is used as first line treatment of uncomplicated hypertension.

Mechanism of Action

Olmesartan Medoxomil binds to the AT1 receptor and prevent the conversion of angiotensin -1 to angiotensin- 2, therefore it leads to reduced cardiac activity, increased excretion of sodium or helps to lower the blood pressure.
Amlodipine Besylate enhances the production of nitric oxide which act as potent vasodilator and thus decreases blood pressure
Chlorthalidone inhibits the NA+/Cl symporter in the ascending limb of Henle and reduces the resorption of sodium and chloride ions
